For as long as I can remember, I’ve been using a weekly planner. It’s been the same Moleskine weekly planner for the past 6 years. The lines on the right are perfect for taking notes, scrapbooking, bullet journaling, etc. The only thing I’m sad about is the quality of paper; it gets thinner and thinner each year while my pens stay the same (Le Pen and Pilot Razor Point II).
Below are my 3 favorite weekly spreads from 2016. I would keep flipping back to these 3 pages last year so now I can view the digitalized version here.
1. Weekend in the French Riviera
The south of France has always been my dream place to visit. The French Riviera earned the spotlight in every single one of my high school French textbooks. I was so happy when my work friends & I took a weekend trip there in the middle of our 2-week work trip in Dublin. Friday, we were greeted with huge, delicious portions of French-Italian pasta & rosé at La Villa d’Este. We spent Saturday exploring 6 towns: Saint-Paul de Vence, Vence, Gourdon, Grasse, Cannes and Antibes. Sunday was saved for Nice, which meant buying pain du chocolate for breakfast, biking along Côte d’Azur, devouring crepes for lunch, and enjoying the amazing Mediterranean Sea. And then the most coincidental surprise: the Nice Carnival was going on at the same time! Eccentric & eclectic floats from my textbooks actually passed me in real life. O south of France.. one day I’ll stay with you for a summer.
2. Week in Charlotte, North Carolina
2016 was a year of change. One of which was switching teams & joining the Google Fiber family. Charlotte was the first city launch I worked on and the trip involved lots of prep, rehearsals and running around. But I got to explore Queen City over the weekend and added Mint Museum Uptown to my favorite museums list. I love looking at this week – the colorful details, the carefree scribbles and the exciting but scary details of this new role.
3. Daily reminders
I love the extra pages Moleskine provides at the back of each planner. I was practicing calligraphy a lot in 2016 and wrote this reminder to flip to during stressful times. It’s taken from the line ‘Morning by morning new mercies I see’ from the old hymn, Great Is Thy Faithfulness. I also liked that I drew straight lines without a ruler haha. Maybe I’ll paint this on canvas some day.
