Husking coconuts (without a machete)

Part 5 of WFH Series: Oahu

Thanks to a brave tree climber (and trespasser), we were gifted 6 coconuts and no proper tools to crack them open. While Don didn’t have teeth strength like Chief Kap Te’o-Tafiti, he did share the chief’s grit and enthusiasm in husking the coconuts.

Through trial and error, hours of manual labor, and a final all hands on deck party, we ended up with fresh, locally sourced, non-GMO, unprocessed, organic, 100% pure coconut juice and coconut meat.

While the assembly line of 2 toiled outside, Nancy was inside softening the meat of a purchased sprouted coconut using boiling and baking techniques.
